Maria Salamanca is currently an Associate at Unshackled Ventures. She is also leading Operations & Strategy at SwingLeft.org. Previous to joining Unshackled, Maria worked at FWD.us an immigration lobbying group founded by Mark Zuckerberg and other tech leaders during its early days. Maria also worked as assistant to the Silicon Valley finance director for Hillary for America and as a fellow for Obama’s 2012 campaign. She also lead marketing for OpenIDEO during the Higher Education Affordability challenge. Maria is a mentor at Year Up, Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative, BUILDUP Fund, and NASDAQ Entrepreneurship Center.
She is also program founder for the Orange County Public Schools Super Scholar Success Initiative. The initiative helps first generation and low-income students across the district succeed at top 25 colleges.
She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a double major in Political Science and Legal Studies and a minor in Public Policy from the Goldman School. During her time in college she interned at Goldman Sachs, Boston Consulting Group and Education Pioneers. She also co-founded civic tech startup, Encire, focused on civic engagement.
